Copyright Policy & Notice & Takedown Procedure

1. General Provisions

epub.shop respects intellectual property rights and operates in accordance with Ukrainian copyright law as well as internationally recognized Notice & Takedown standards.

This Policy describes how copyright owners may submit infringement notices (Notice) and how the service responds. We aim to ensure a fair balance between protecting rights holders and preventing misuse of this procedure.

2. Submitting a Copyright Infringement Notice

If you believe that material available on epub.shop infringes your copyright, you may submit a formal Notice using the following channel:

Please include the subject line: “Copyright Notice – [Title of Work]”.

3. Requirements for a Valid Notice

Your Notice must include all of the following elements:

3.1. Identification of the copyrighted work

  • title of the work;
  • name of the author or copyright owner;
  • description of the work;
  • link to the official publication or source, if available.

3.2. Identification of the allegedly infringing material

  • direct URL to the infringing content on epub.shop.

3.3. Proof of copyright ownership

  • a license agreement or contract with the author;
  • proof of copyright registration (if applicable);
  • a power of attorney or other authorization document.

3.4. Contact information

  • full name;
  • company name (if applicable);
  • email address;
  • phone number;
  • legal address or place of residence.

3.5. Good-faith statement

“I hereby state that I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material identified in this Notice is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.”

3.6. Accuracy & authority statement

“I confirm that the information in this Notice is accurate, and I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.”

3.7. Signature

  • scanned or photographed signature, or
  • digital signature, or
  • typed full name at the end of the Notice.

4. Notice Review Procedure (Takedown)

Upon receiving a valid Notice, we take the following steps:

  1. Verify the completeness and validity of the Notice.
  2. Temporarily restrict access to the allegedly infringing content, if necessary.
  3. Request additional information if needed.
  4. Assess the evidence and basis of the claim.
  5. Remove, block, or restore the material based on the findings.
  6. Notify the claimant of the outcome.

5. Counter-Notice Procedure

If content has been removed or restricted in response to a Notice, the affected party may submit a Counter-Notice if they believe the removal was incorrect.

  • identification of the removed content;
  • explanation why the claim is believed to be erroneous;
  • documents supporting the right to distribute the content (if any);
  • full name, contact information, and address;
  • a statement: “I submit this Counter-Notice in good faith and understand the possible consequences of false statements.”

6. Misuse of the Procedure

Submitting false or fraudulent Notices or Counter-Notices may result in legal consequences. We reserve the right to:

  • reject baseless claims;
  • request additional proof;
  • limit the ability to submit Notices in case of repeated abuse;
  • contact appropriate authorities in cases of deliberate misuse.

7. Limitation of Liability

epub.shop is not a publishing house. Some materials may be uploaded by users or partners. We are not responsible for third-party copyright violations but act promptly after receiving a valid Notice.
